Six kinds of shape share this page and none of them overlaps another except where the drawing means them to. Two very large rings stand in the middle, drawn as double outlines so each band has a width of its own, and they cross low and to the right so that one band passes in front of the other. Two doves face each other above the rings with their wings spread, each with one round eye and a small beak. A bouquet leans in from the right, its stems bundled and tied with a broad ribbon bow. Six hearts of clearly different sizes are scattered around the edges.

The rings are the two biggest open areas, and they behave like a single puzzle rather than two shapes. Where the bands cross, the outline tells you which one is in front, and coloring the front band first makes the crossing read correctly without any planning. If both bands get the same color, the overlap disappears and the pair reads as one loop; if they get two colors, the crossing becomes the most legible part of the sheet. Either choice is available and only the first one is reversible, so it is worth deciding before the pencil goes down.

The doves are built from long curved feathers rather than a solid wing, so there are narrow lanes to fill along each wing and a broad body between them. Working the wings first, while the hand is fresh, leaves the two body shapes as the easy part at the end. Each dove has a single visible eye with a filled pupil, already dark on the page, and nothing needs to be added to it. The gap between the two beaks is the smallest white space on the sheet, and leaving it white is what keeps the two birds separate.

The bouquet is the densest corner. Seven flowers show a full circular center and the ones behind them are half hidden, which means the petal shapes closest to the ribbon are the smallest areas anywhere on the page. A sharpened colored pencil reaches into those; a broad marker tip will bridge two petals at once. Below the bow, the stems run down as long parallel lanes, and they are the one part of the drawing where a single steady stroke can fill a whole shape.

The six hearts are the free space. They are closed, symmetrical and completely empty, so they are the natural place to test a color before committing it to the rings, and the natural place to put a color that appears nowhere else. Because they are different sizes, giving them a graded set of one color, palest in the smallest and deepest in the largest, ties the corners of the sheet together without repeating the same tone all over it.

Nothing here has an expected color. Gold or silver on the rings is the obvious reading, but a ring band is a flat closed shape and takes any color at all. Doves are drawn white in this outline because the paper is white, and leaving them unfilled with only a colored background behind them makes them read as white rather than as unfinished. The bouquet is the one part of the sheet that can be as loud as you like, since a bunch of flowers is not required to agree with itself.

There is a small piece of drawing craft on this sheet worth noticing while you work. A ring drawn as a single line reads as a circle; a ring drawn as two lines, an outer and an inner, reads as a band with thickness. Both rings here are drawn the second way, which is why they look like objects rather than outlines, and it is also why each one gives you two separate areas to fill: the band itself, and the hole in the middle that is not part of the ring at all.

Print at actual size on plain letter paper rather than fit-to-page, so the ribbon knot and the small petal shapes keep the width they were drawn at. If markers are the plan, heavier card stock takes the ink without buckling, and it matters more here than on an open subject because the flower heads carry a lot of ink in a small area. Finished, the sheet trims well: cutting just outside the two rings gives a linked pair that stands on a shelf if it is glued to a folded strip, and the hearts cut out one by one into place markers.
